Notary Public

Get Your Important Documents Notarized

The Natrona County Library offers free Notary services for the benefit of the community. Many of our staff are notary publics, so you can get your important documents notarized almost any time the Library is open*.

The following guidelines will be observed in the provision of Notary service:
  • Notary service is not available for these types of documents: real estate, powers of attorney, and estate documents.
  • It is recommended that patrons call the library to verify that a notary is available when they plan to visit.
  • Valid, government-issued, physical photo identification is required for each individual requesting notary service.
  • The Library reserves the right to limit the number of documents notarized to six (6) per person, per visit.
  • The notary and the person seeking notarization must be able to communicate directly with each other. Library notaries are not permitted to make use of a translator in a transaction with a notary patron.
  • The Library will not provide witnesses, and witnesses may not be solicited from among other patrons. To serve as a witness, the witness must personally know the person whose documents are being notarized and must present valid, government-issued, physical photo identification.
  • Library notaries will not notarize documents that contain blank spaces. (Spaces intentionally left blank should be completed with “N/A” or a similar notation.)
  • The Library notary is not an attorney licensed to practice law, and he/she may not give legal advice, nor can they accept fees for their services.
  • Do not sign your document in advance. All documents must be signed in the presence of the notary.
  • Library notaries will not provide notarial service if the patron, document, or circumstances of the request for notary service raise any issues of authenticity, ambiguity, doubt, or uncertainty for the Library. In this event, the notary may, at his/her sole discretion, decline to provide notary service.
*Please contact us to make sure a notary will be available when you plan to visit. You may also call or stop by any service desk for more information on using our notary services.
